My Story
My journey into the world of health data and artificial intelligence has been transformative and exhilarating. While my professional career began as a pharmacist, it was my fascination with data and its potential to revolutionise healthcare that truly defined my path.
My initial foray into the world of advanced studies saw me earn a Master of Drug Development from UNSW, Sydney. This academic pursuit allowed me to better understand the monumental efforts involved in drug discovery and development. I gained insights into how new therapeutic entities are identified using a combination of computational, experimental, translational, and clinical models. Additionally, I learned about the cost-benefit analyses required to justify the pursuit of new entities. This experience highlighted the existing gaps in the process, gaps that could potentially be filled using machine learning and AI algorithms. These technologies promise to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of drug discovery, offering solutions that were previously unimaginable.
This dramatically shifted my focus towards health data, AI, and machine learning. Captivated by the possibilities that these technologies offer, I pursued a Master of Health Data Science. This pivot has opened up new avenues for me to explore the vast potential of data in healthcare. The advent of transformer models, GPT, and large language models (LLMs) has particularly excited me. These technologies hold the promise to revolutionise healthcare by providing unparalleled predictive capabilities, optimising healthcare operations, and delivering personalised patient care. These models are at the forefront of a health revolution, offering solutions that were once thought to be the realm of science fiction. They enable more accurate diagnostics, streamline administrative processes, and enhance patient engagement through intelligent systems.
My work involves leveraging these cutting-edge technologies to predict patient outcomes, improve clinical workflows, and drive innovations in healthcare delivery. Being able to contribute to this evolving field, where data science and AI intersect with healthcare, is incredibly rewarding. It’s a journey that combines my passion for technology with a commitment to improving patient care, and I am excited to continue exploring the transformative power of health data.
